The Art of Hand Block Printing

Block Printing dates back the Tang Dynasty (7th century AD)

Block printing is an ancient printing technique that dates back centuries, originating in different parts of the world like India, China, and Japan. The process involves using hand-carved wooden blocks to transfer designs onto various surfaces.

Every year, we travel to India to discover new designs for our collections. We collaborate with some incredible artisans in India who work their magic to create beautiful prints with us!

Here’s how it works:

1. Design: First, skilled artisans meticulously carve intricate patterns onto wooden blocks, creating a unique design for each block.

2. Ink: The block is then dipped in colorful ink, ensuring that it evenly coats the surface of the carved design.

3. Print: The inked block is gently pressed onto the fabric or paper, leaving behind a beautiful impression of the design.

4. Repeat: This process is repeated with different blocks and colors to create a mesmerizing, multi-layered artwork.
